Often when Kai does not get what he wants (i.e. fairly frequently as he wants everything:now!) he turns to me and says: This is the worst day of my life! As he uses this phrase at least once a day,I can only surmise that his life is getting progressively worse as it continues. (As a bleak, cynical, pessimist myself, I can't really argue with the basic soundness of this worldview.)
Another favourite, often used in combination with the above is: I will never, ever be happy again!
Yikes! Life really is a very dramatic affair when you are seven years old!
On the subject of the kind of language that children use, I really must praise the Charlie and Lola books.Lauren Child has a great ear for how children talk. Her books have been made in to a TV series which surprisingly manages to create the collage-like feel of the books.
Oh yes...I remember it well. Ellen sitting on the top stair, arms outstretched, "don't leeeeeeeeeaaaave meeeeee moootheeeeeer". Very Maria Callas.
SvaraRaderaI was going to the supermarket.
You britts, you spoil your children rotten! You are the worst spoilers in all of Europe!
